Pastor Henry Gunnink

I’m Henry Gunnink, pastor of the Grace Christian Reformed Church in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.

Thanks for checking out our web page and this pastor’s page. I’m a native Minnesotan. I was born and raised near Edgerton, in southwestern Minnesota but then spent 40 years elsewhere. My education took me to Calvin College and Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan and later to the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Toronto, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

I entered the ministry in January 1976, pastoring a congregation in Orangeville, Ontario. In 1981, Christian Reformed Home Missions recruited me and my wife to start a new church in Ottawa, Ontario. We came to Grace Church and back to Minnesota in November 2004.

Living in Canada has left it’s imprint on us. We can appreciate Canadian society with it’s multiculturalism and it’s provision of health care for all. We have seen how other countries have a place and responsibility within the larger family of nations.

Having been in church planting/mission work, we’ve also learned a great deal from those new to the faith. They have taught us about faith, love, prayer, healing, worship, the Holy Spirit, partnership in ministry, and sharing of life in community. We seek to bring the benefits of these experiences into our ministry at Grace today.

I give thanks that I was raised in a Christian family. I have known the Lord Jesus as Savior and the call to ministry from an early age. I heartily and joyfully hold the conviction of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. I have also benefited greatly from seeing that the kingdom of God lays claim to every square inch of life, bringing reconciliation and renewal to our societies, as we patiently live and work in the hope of Christ’s coming again.
